MIQ Restructures APAC Leadership, Replaces Regional CEO

Advertising technology firm MIQ has parted ways with Asia Pacific CEO Jason Scott, restructuring its regional operations under a decentralized model led by local market directors.

Fiona Roberts, managing director for Australia and New Zealand, now oversees ANZ operations as MIQ shifts from centralized APAC leadership to market-by-market management. The change follows Scott's nearly five-year tenure, including three years leading regional expansion efforts.

Leadership Transition Follows Regional Assessment

MIQ confirmed the departure in a statement emphasizing routine business evaluations across global markets. "We routinely assess our business operations in each of our individual markets around the world," a company spokesperson told Mumbrella. "Our intention, as always, is to ensure that our product is resonating with our clients and our business is growing in line with our ambitions."

The spokesperson added that MIQ "decided to make a change" while reaffirming commitment to Asia Pacific. "We remain committed to the region as part of our global expansion strategy and will continue to invest broadly to grow our business there."

Scott joined MIQ in October 2019 as ANZ CEO before being promoted to lead APAC operations. His regional mandate covered Southeast Asian markets excluding India and China, spanning seven offices across Australia, China, and Singapore, plus operations in New Zealand and Japan.

Shift to Local Market Management

The restructuring replaces centralized regional oversight with individual market leadership. Each of MIQ's APAC markets will now operate under local directors familiar with specific client relationships and market dynamics.

Roberts has been with MIQ since 2018, progressing from sales director to commercial director before her 2022 appointment as managing director. Her internal promotion contrasts with Scott's broader regional role coordinating diverse markets from Australia to Southeast Asia.

The leadership change comes months after MIQ appointed Addy Cutts as Commercial Director for Southeast Asia in February 2025. That expansion emphasized five growth pillars: accelerating regional support, channel diversity, product portfolio expansion, senior hires, and positioning in dynamic Southeast Asian markets.

Industry Context and Background

The restructuring reflects broader challenges facing advertising technology firms operating across Asia Pacific's diverse markets. Companies must balance regional coordination with local responsiveness as they navigate different regulatory environments, client expectations, and competitive landscapes across countries.

Before joining MIQ, Scott served as CEO of Allure Media, the Australian publisher of Gizmodo, Kotaku and Popsugar. He left when the business integrated into Pedestrian Group following Nine Entertainment's merger with Fairfax Media. His earlier experience included four years at Microsoft working in the United States and Singapore, plus five years leading sales at ninemsn.

MIQ maintains four Australian offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, alongside two offices in China and one in Singapore. The company has not announced timeline details for completing the regional restructuring or appointing additional market leaders.
