Pinterest Appoints Meta's Damian Kim as APAC Enterprise VP
Pinterest taps Meta's Damian Kim to lead APAC enterprise sales, signaling aggressive push for advertising dollars across Asia-Pacific's fastest-growing digital market.
Pinterest has appointed Damian Kim, a former Meta executive, as vice president of APAC enterprise sales, effective late February 2026. The move signals the visual discovery platform's intensified push to capture advertising dollars across the Asia-Pacific region.
Senior Leadership Hire Targets Enterprise Advertisers
Kim will report to Cecle van Steenberge, vice president of international enterprise sales, and lead Pinterest's APAC enterprise organization. His mandate focuses on strengthening regional leadership and expanding relationships with major advertisers, including brands like Kao and Panasonic in Japan, plus Kia and Flight Centre in Australia.

The appointment brings two decades of digital, media, and technology sales experience to Pinterest. Kim most recently served as managing director and head of product for APAC at Meta, where he developed products specifically for regional markets. His background also includes leadership roles at Meta across Singapore and Southeast Asia, plus leading Microsoft's Surface business and key partnerships with hardware manufacturers in Asia Pacific.
Van Steenberge noted that "Pinterest's strengths in visual discovery and shopping align closely with how consumers across APAC plan, explore, and buy."
Strong International Growth Drives Regional Investment
The timing aligns with Pinterest's robust international momentum. The company reported 16% growth in monthly active users and 66% revenue growth in its "rest of world" segment. Over 80% of Pinterest users now reside outside North America, making APAC a critical growth market for the platform.
Kim expressed enthusiasm about joining during this "pivotal moment," noting that APAC is "one of the most exciting and diverse regions in the world, where culture, creativity, and commerce move incredibly fast."
The appointment reflects broader competition among digital platforms for Asian market dominance. As global tech companies face slowing growth in mature markets, APAC's diverse economies and rapidly growing digital advertising sectors have become strategic priorities. Pinterest's enterprise sales focus suggests the platform aims to capture larger advertising budgets from multinational brands operating across the region.
Executive Additions Signal Business Expansion
This appointment follows Pinterest's recent executive additions, including Claudine Cheever as chief marketing officer from Amazon and Lee Brown in the newly created chief business officer role from DoorDash. The leadership changes signal Pinterest's commitment to scaling its global advertising business beyond its North American base.
The hiring pattern also reflects broader executive talent mobility between major digital platforms. As companies compete for regional market share, recruiting senior leaders with established relationships and market knowledge has become a key competitive strategy. Kim's experience building products and partnerships at Meta provides Pinterest with insights into enterprise advertiser needs across diverse APAC markets.
Kim will assume his new role at the end of February 2026.
