René Migliore Steps Down as 303 Perth MD After 14 Years

René Migliore will step down as Managing Director of 303 Perth at the end of March, ending a 14-year relationship with the agency across two separate periods. The departure marks a significant leadership transition for the Western Australian office, which will move from a single Managing Director structure to a dual-leadership model.

Chief Strategy Officer Matt Oakley and General Manager Kylie Macey will jointly lead the Perth office following Migliore's exit. The pair will receive support from Attivo CEO Sue Squillace, Executive Chairman Anthony Gregorio, and the senior leadership team. The transition represents a shift toward collaborative management structures increasingly favored by regional agencies across Asia-Pacific.

Leadership Journey and Transformation

Migliore first joined 303 Perth in 2006, remaining until 2013 before spending four years at other agencies. He returned to what was then 303 MullenLowe in 2017 as General Manager, earning promotion to Managing Director in 2019. His six years in the top role saw the agency expand significantly beyond traditional advertising services.

Under his leadership, 303 Perth developed capabilities spanning business strategy, brand planning, creative services, media, and design solutions. "I've always been a strong believer in the 303 brand, our work and our incredible people," Migliore said, highlighting the agency's evolution toward building "more diverse capabilities" to address varied client needs.

Industry Recognition and Local Advocacy

Squillace praised Migliore's contributions to the Perth market and broader Western Australian creative community. "René has dedicated himself to delivering bold creative, media, and business solutions tailored to the local market," she said, noting his success in building a talented leadership team and his advocacy for regional creativity.

His tenure demonstrates unusual stability in an industry where marketing leadership positions typically turn over rapidly. The 14-year relationship across two periods contrasts sharply with shorter executive tenures common across Asia-Pacific markets, where competitive pressures and organizational restructuring frequently drive leadership changes.

Succession Planning Approach

The dual-leadership model replacing Migliore's solo position reflects broader trends in regional agency management. By promoting internal candidates Oakley and Macey rather than recruiting externally, 303 Perth prioritizes institutional knowledge and team continuity during the transition.

This approach aligns with strategies used by independent agencies across Asia-Pacific to retain talent and maintain client relationships during leadership changes. The involvement of parent company Attivo Group's senior executives provides additional structural support during the handover period.

Migliore's departure comes as 303 Perth continues operating under its simplified branding, having previously been known as 303 MullenLowe before organizational changes within the broader network. The agency's focus on Western Australian market expertise and local creative talent remains central to its positioning.
