Checkout Is Becoming A Real-Time Marketing Channel
Rokt has rebuilt the AI engine that decides which offers shoppers see at checkout. The launch shows ecommerce platforms turning the transaction moment into programmable media, forcing CMOs to set clearer rules for automated ranking, customer treatment and incremental measurement.
Rokt introduced Brain V4 on August 4, rebuilding the artificial intelligence core that decides what shoppers see while completing an ecommerce purchase. The company said the architecture now handles every transaction across its network and can change its models without forcing simultaneous changes across the rest of its platform.
The announcement is more than an engineering update. It shows how checkout is becoming a marketing channel in its own right, with algorithms selecting offers, product recommendations and commercial messages at the point where customer intent is highest.
What Rokt Rebuilt
Rokt says its Brain combines customer, partner, advertiser, creative, transaction and contextual data in real time. Machine learning, auctions, ranking systems and guardrails then determine what appears, including whether nothing should be shown.
"All of our transactions run through this architecture," Rokt Chief AI Officer Claire Southey said, while stressing that the system is still being refined.
Earlier versions tied product configuration, machine-learning features, selection logic, attribution and identity decisions more closely together. Brain V4 separates those functions so product surfaces, business rules and real-time decisioning can evolve independently.
That distinction matters to CMOs because faster model changes also increase the pace at which customer experience can shift. The marketing question is no longer simply whether to personalize checkout. It is who defines the objective, the commercial rules and the limits placed on automated decisions.
Checkout Is Becoming Media Inventory
Rokt expects its network to power more than 10 billion transactions in 2026. It reported more than $800 million in 2025 revenue and has recently added partnerships with PayPal, Fanatics, Ulta Beauty, Cineplex, Albertsons and Macy's, alongside acquisitions including mParticle and Aftersell.
That scale gives the company a large stream of purchase signals and a commercially valuable place to act on them. Unlike product discovery, where intent may still be weak, Rokt is making decisions when a shopper has already committed to a transaction.
This turns the confirmation and checkout flow into a hybrid of media, merchandising and customer experience. The party controlling the decision engine can influence which offer is eligible, how it is ranked and whether short-term monetization is allowed to interrupt the sale.

Competitors Are Expanding Automated Decisioning
Rokt is not alone. MoEngage acquired Aampe in June to add individual-level decisioning across content, timing, channel and frequency. The companies said Aampe processes more than 200 billion decisions each week, with deployments including Grab and Swiggy.
Salesforce also released Agentforce Commerce with agents spanning discovery, checkout and service. Salesforce said AI influenced 20% of global online sales during the latest holiday season and that AI-referred traffic converted at eight times the rate of social traffic. Fast Simon, meanwhile, launched AI personalization for Shopify merchandisers and reported double-digit revenue and conversion gains among early adopters.
The competitive direction is clear: commerce platforms are moving from helping teams set rules to making continuous decisions on their behalf. Rokt's difference is its focus on the transaction moment and its mix of ranking, auction and guardrail logic inside that narrow window.

What Regional Marketing Leaders Should Change
The APAC relevance is practical. Rokt operates offices across the region, while Aampe's work with Grab and Swiggy shows that automated decisioning is already serving major regional consumer platforms.
For regional marketing leaders, the executive decision is not whether to adopt another personalization feature. It is whether local teams have enough control over offer eligibility, customer treatment and measurement when a shared model operates across markets.
CMOs should require clear answers on ranking objectives, holdout testing, incremental margin, customer complaints and the conditions under which the system shows nothing. Those controls matter more than the volume of decisions an engine can make.
Brain V4 gives Rokt a more flexible foundation, but the launch does not yet prove that the new architecture improves outcomes. The broader shift it points to is still important: checkout is becoming programmable commercial inventory. Marketing leaders now need to govern it with the same discipline they apply to media spend and customer data.
