GE HealthCare Embeds Communications in Global Markets Overhaul
GE HealthCare promotes Allison England to lead global markets communications. The restructuring elevates comms inside the company's top commercial team, signaling how healthcare brands now embed strategy into growth.
GE HealthCare has promoted Allison England to head of communications for global markets, effective April 29, 2026. The move is part of a broader restructuring that consolidates all of the company's commercial regions, except China, into a single "Global Markets" unit.
England had led communications for GE HealthCare's US and Canada region for the past three years. She will now work alongside Catherine Estrampes, who has been appointed chief commercial and growth officer in the same reorganization.
Restructuring Ties Communications to Commercial Growth
The April 2026 reorganization merges GE HealthCare's two largest businesses into a US$14.6 billion imaging arm and establishes a unified global commercial organization. England's expanded role places the communications function directly inside this new structure, reporting into the commercial leadership team rather than operating as a separate support function.

England wrote on LinkedIn that the company is "evolving how we operate to strengthen execution, reduce complexity, and better position the business for growth." She described the new Global Markets structure as "a strategic commercial organization" and said the role allows her to continue working alongside Estrampes in her new capacity.
England joined GE HealthCare in January 2023 from Hill+Knowlton Strategies, where she served as VP of corporate communications. Before that, she spent more than seven years at Pratt & Whitney managing communications during the aviation company's own transformation period.

Communications Elevated Inside a Post-Spinoff Brand
GE HealthCare only became an independent public company in January 2023, following its spinoff from General Electric. Since then, the company has built a standalone brand identity, including the purpose statement "To Create a World Where Healthcare Has No Limits," developed through quantitative global research. The company also established a Chief Corporate Marketing and Communications Officer role covering brand, digital marketing, PR, and internal communications.
The latest restructuring extends that investment. With England's promotion, the communications function is formally embedded inside the company's top commercial team, rather than functioning separately from it.
APAC Included in Global Markets Scope
The new "Global Markets" organization covers all regions outside China. That means Asia Pacific communications will now fall under England's expanded remit. GE HealthCare is operating in a region where the digital health market was valued at US$72.28 billion in 2024 and is forecast to reach US$498.91 billion by 2033.

IDC's 2026 Asia/Pacific Healthcare Futurescape projects that by 2028, 45% of healthcare organizations in the region will be rolling out AI-enabled tools that prioritize trust and cultural alignment. That emphasis on trust makes communications a direct factor in market execution, not just a supporting activity.
The broader healthcare communications landscape is also shifting. Medtronic's chief of marketing and communications, Torod Neptune, said at Davos 2025 that the communications role is "now at the forefront of guiding internal conversations about the role of business in a disrupted society," according to Provoke Media. GE HealthCare's move to structurally embed communications inside its global commercial organization reflects a similar direction.
GE HealthCare said all executive changes took effect April 29, 2026. The company has not provided additional detail on the timing or scope of England's expanded responsibilities.
