PR Agency Consolidation Is Buying The Intelligence Layer
AVENIR GLOBAL's acquisition of Marker Collective combines three specialist communications agencies with Delve, an AI-powered media intelligence platform. The deal raises a larger question for agency chiefs and communications leaders: how much of a PR firm's value now lies in its shared intelligence?
On November 5, AVENIR GLOBAL announced its acquisition of Marker Collective from Next 15 Group, adding technology communications agencies Archetype, Nectar and Outcast, along with the Delve AI-powered media intelligence platform.
Next 15 disclosed £70.4 million in cash consideration, valuing Marker at £70 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis. Marker has approximately 650 employees across 20 offices, including in Asia Pacific. For communications executives, the transaction is more than a geographic expansion. It puts a proprietary intelligence product inside a much larger specialist agency network.
The Sale Reveals Two Different Agency Strategies
For the buyer, Marker adds expertise in technology communications and a shared analytics capability. AVENIR says the purchase takes its global workforce above 1,500 and that the acquired agencies will keep their existing brands, management teams and client relationships.
For the seller, the logic is simplification. Next 15's disposal statement says its portfolio has shrunk from 22 businesses to nine through divestments, integrations and closures. Marker generated £9.8 million in adjusted operating profit in the year ended January 31, 2026. Next 15 expects approximately £67.9 million in net proceeds after transaction costs.
Both choices can be rational. One group is concentrating capital on fewer businesses; another is acquiring a specialist network it believes can grow within a larger platform. The distinction for agency CEOs is whether ownership increases the value of specialist advice or merely adds overhead.
Delve Makes The Deal More Than A Headcount Play
AVENIR's announcement describes Delve as a platform that analyzes real-time news and social media reporting into insights for executives. Marker says its agencies serve more than 450 clients. AVENIR plans to explore extending Delve across its wider portfolio for client service, measurement and internal workflows.
That ambition is meaningful but not yet a proven integration outcome. There are no disclosed figures establishing Delve's contribution to revenue, client retention or staff productivity across the enlarged group.
The commercial opportunity is to make research and reporting more consistent across offices while leaving senior advisers responsible for interpretation. The risk is that a common dashboard becomes a substitute for the cultural judgment and source scrutiny that clients actually purchase.

Specialist Brands Are Staying, But The Competition Is Changing
PRovoke Media reported that Marker will continue under CEO Helena Maus, with Archetype, Nectar and Outcast keeping their identities. In APAC, Archetype had already expanded its AI-focused regional leadership in July to support its VISTA consulting framework for visibility in AI-driven discovery.
Other PR groups are taking different paths. Edelman's October agreement to acquire a 21% stake in PRAP Japan emphasized local relationships and cross-border work rather than a wholly owned shared software layer. The two transactions suggest that specialist expertise remains attractive, but firms are choosing different mechanisms to connect it across markets.
For APAC clients, that distinction matters when a campaign spans several languages, regulatory environments and media ecosystems. Centralized analysis may improve consistency; it cannot by itself guarantee local accuracy or relevance.

Communications Leaders Need Proof Beyond The Platform Pitch
Chief communications officers reviewing agency partners should ask how shared intelligence changes actual decisions. Can teams trace an insight back to original reporting? Who reviews language-specific findings? Does measurement distinguish campaign outputs from changes in reputation or business outcomes?
Agency leaders face the parallel question of economics. A common tool might reduce duplicated monitoring work, but credible savings require evidence of adoption, quality controls and client value, not a feature list. Pricing and the division of responsibilities between software and advisers will matter.
AVENIR has bought specialist agencies and the technology connecting them. Whether that combination earns stronger client relationships will depend less on how widely Delve is deployed than on the decisions it helps people make.
